back​book was cofounded in Minneapolis in 2015 by Rick Webb, a veteran restauranteur who currently owns Ciao Bella and Zelo in Minneapolis, and Paul Lundberg, a software engineer with a proven track record as a technology leader having founded multiple technology product companies. Eileen Lundberg, CPA, a former CFO with extensive operation systems background, joined the management team in 2016.

Rick knew there had to be a better way to run his restaurants other than the pile of orders, invoices, and spreadsheets cluttering up the back offices. He searched for something as simple to use as his smartphone apps. When he couldn't find one, he and Paul set out on a mission to build backbook for the way a restaurant office really operates.
